Babysitting

Babysitters are 18 years and older. They are usually nannies, mother's helpers, childcare workers, teachers, after-school carers, or students who are studying in relevant fields.

Babysitters usually do not do any housekeeping duties for the children or family, except clean up after the children and tidy any work areas.

We provide sitters for hotels, serviced apartments, functions, corporate clients and private homes, whether it’s for daytime, evenings, weekends, overnight stays, temporary live-in or live-out positions, or for children with special needs. Please see below for our current rates and fees for Australia and New Zealand.

Australian rates and fees

We provide casual babysitters in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Casual rates for private engagements are:

$80 for the first three hours, then $20 per hour.
$280 for overnight stays or 24-hour periods.
A $50 cancellation fee applies if cancelled within 48 hours of booking.
For public holidays & New Year’s Eve, rates and fees are doubled.
Fees are per family. If there are more children than the immediate family, please advise at time of booking because you may need more than one carer.
Fees are payable at the time of employment. All you do is pay the carer. Please check our legal obligations for PAYG and workers’ compensation.

If you require a tax invoice or need to claim the CCB for registered care, or are a business, the following rates and fees apply:

$100 for the first three hours, then $20 per hour.
$350 for an overnight stay or 24-hour period.
An $80 cancellation fee if cancelled within 48 hours.
For public holidays and New Year’s Eve, rates and fees are doubled.

You will not be responsible for any tax or workers’ compensation. Care for Kidz will take care of that.

If you do pay the carer direct (cash or cheque made out to them), then a tax invoice will not be sent.

Childcare benefit

As of the 1 July 2000, the Federal Government replaced the old childcare rebate with the childcare benefit. It is now administered by the Family Assistance Office (FAO). The FAO is a joint venture between the Australian Tax Office, Centrelink and the Health Insurance Commission (Medicare).

Care for Kidz is a registered childcare provider, for CCB for registered care only. If you need to claim any childcare costs associated with work or studies, please ask at the time of booking. Please note you cannot claim the childcare rebate for babysitting.
